GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING

Geotechnical Engineering is the evaluation of soil and rock material using soil and rock mechanics. A geotechnical study provides site-specific soil design information to the project design team. Using the recommendations from a geotechnical study, the design team can design foundations, floor slabs, pavement sections, lagoons and other structures for the specific
s site or the recommendations can be used to provide
remedial action for structures that are distressed. Projects designed using geotechnical studies have a reduced cost over time in that the structures have a greater longevity and properly designed structures
also have reduced maintenance costs over the life
of the structure.
